ABOUT US

Camp Trinity is in it’s 21st year of operation - where has the time gone! It was in February of 2004 that the journey began here in Green Lane.

Prior to opening Camp Trinity in 2004, the McHugh family operated the Day Camp at Gwynedd-Mercy College. A rich history of summer camp was started by the Sisters of Mercy on the Gwynedd Valley campus. Known in the early years as Treweryn Mercy Day Damp, it evolved into Gwynedd-Mercy College Day camp in 1976. From that point forward, Jim and Maria McHugh directed the summer day camp that welcomed children from all over Montgomery and Bucks counties, as well as Philadelphia. Some of the earliest van routes were in South Philadelphia and even stretched into New Jersey! By the end of the summer of 2003, we realized we were outgrowing the Gwynedd campus.

With a new facility in site and Joan McHugh-Williams taking over the reigns; Camp Trinity was founded. Trinity is located on 43 beautiful and rustic acres, just like the grounds of Gwynedd long ago. The camp was the former site of the University Camp, run by the University of Pennsylvania. A historical and well designed property, it was love at first site for the McHugh family. The buildings on the property all have the wonderful stone fireplaces and the feel of a camp from days gone by. We felt honored to take over a property so rich in history and so magnificently designed. It is a true camp!

Now twenty one years later, we have never looked back. Trinity continues to grow and evolve. We are so proud of all the outdoor adventures the children are able to partake in - fishing, boating and exploring the Unami creek; nature hikes and vast playing fields all add to the growth of the children in the ‘great outdoors’. We are able to promote the simple, but not often used, values of good old fashioned ‘play’. Of course we have all those wonderful traditional camp activities of swimming, archery, crafts, sports, and cooking; but we are also able to help children understand the importance of playing outside. We especially love that the younger children can build forts, collect creatures, catch butterflies, fly kites and all those wonderful things we remember from our childhood. Our more mature campers love playing beach volleyball, dodge ball, and all the sports; they also have field trips, camp clubs, and overnights.

We have a wonderful staff at Trinity who are here to teach and help the campers have the best summer of their lives. Come and visit us anytime - just drop me an email and I will be happy to show you all those things that make Camp Trinity so special.
